Kingston Police are investigating an incident where a live grenade was discovered in the city over the weekend.
On Saturday afternoon around 1 pm, employees at a local waste management facility (in Kingston) were sorting items in a scrap metal disposal container when they located what they believed to be a grenade.
Police were contacted and it was determined that the item was in fact a live grenade with the pin still intact.
The facility was evacuated and the OPP Explosive Devices Unit attended and disposed of the grenade.
Circumstances surrounding the grenade and how it ended up in a waste disposal container are unknown.
The investigation is continuing.
